Bangkok | City Of Angels | DJ Mix Asia Thailand | Deep Tech & Progressive House
DJ Mix recorded using Ableton Live at my DJ Residency for Distil @ Lebua 5 Star Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, Asia. Distil is at the luxury hotel Lebua in on the 64th floor overlooking the city of Bangkok.
I recorded this at the time when the troubles and unrest were happening in Bangkok. Riots on the streets, buildings being set on fire, and curfews at night. It was a tense time for everyone. Hence the ‘emotional’ content of this mix. The second track on the mix ‘I think of you’ sums up the time so very well; “City grew angry, the riots grew strong” “But I wish for a city of Angels” – stunning track, I cannot understand why I’ve never heard any other DJs play it!
Anyway, the rest of the mix also sings of ‘time for a change’ which is so very much needed today all over the world at this time in history, with people rising up and now becoming more ‘aware’ of the corporate greed, corruption and deception.
Diary Of A Lonely Sailor | DJ Mix | Sunset Chill Out
A DJ mix selection of some of my favorite chill out and lounge tracks from one of my many Lounge DJ residencies for 5 Star Hotels in Asia and the Middle East.
The vibe on this DJ mix is for the beach or wherever else you want to chill out :o) – with an emphasis on the weather, going from rain into sunshine on a high seas journey around the world…
Traveling the world you often forget if it’s winter of if it’s summer, especially these days with the erratic weather. Sometime you long for sun, and other times rain :o) – The grass is always greener…
Rock Remixed DJ Mix | Mini United | 80s 90s DJs Remixes
A selection of classic Rock, 80s & 90s remixes for a festival I did in 2009 for Mini/BMW. A 3 day festival with 5 DJ sets by yours truly – this one was from the main stage in front of about 2000 people after Paul Weller & Calvin Harris. You can watch a short video of this event on our events page
Passion | Rio Brazil DJ Mix | Latin Brazilian Tribal Tech House
Although the title says Brazil Rio, I actually recorded this mix in Ableton in Singapore following a gig in Egypt… I thought the title would be more appropriate than calling it an ‘Egyptian Mix’ :o) Over there in Egypt they like their Latin / Tribal / Percussive / Arabic styles.
This mix was from the Savoy Hotel in Sharm El Sheikh where I played for Panagea, complete with live drummers, live Sax, a dance floor with lights and lots of crazy Russians on holiday at this sea-side resort.
Recorded in Singapore, Asia, for a Fashion Show Party in a strange spruced up warehouse / bar lounge / club / restaurant complex. I originally recorded the set live and then mastered it in Ableton with some extra effects and sample edits from the classic sci-fi film Bladerunner. I ended up using 5 channels of Audio in the end mix, it ended up getting extremely complex and time consuming!
So following on from all the effort that went into the mix, I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did making it :o) I wanted the DJ mix to sum up my time traveling through and staying in Singapore – a very clean futuristic place, kind of like Hong Kong or Tokyo in Asia for it’s style. The film Bladrunner sums up the mood perfectly I think. One of my favorite films of all time!
Welcome To Jungle | Electro House DJ Mix | 80s 90s Remixes
Plenty of Bubblefunk Mash-Up DJ mixes on this mix. This DJ mix is not my usual style, however at Pangea the crowd have to have it commercial, so that’s the way I went – for a mostly Russian and Egyptian crowd at the opening party of their new night club. Had some fun with the mash-ups – there are a few surprises in there too…
The Conspiracy | Funk Indie Comedy Mash-Up Live DJ Mix
Woah! This was a tough one! I recorded this a while back, maybe about 2001, but dug it out as I remember many people commenting on it at the time… It was tough as I had to track down all the tracks again as I lost the track listing! But got there in the end, there are still a few on there that are not 100% accurate though so bare with me…
Samples come from Bill Hicks and George Calin for the comedy sketches and George Bush I sampled from many different sources… can’t really go wrong for comedy value with that idiot! :oD
Miami Style DJ Poolside DJ Mix Set / Summer In The City
I recorded this mix at one of the many poolside rooftop lounge gigs I did. This one has a Miami house DJ flavor, although the DJ mix was originally recorded in Dubai at the Level Lounge pool bar on top of the Intercontinental Hotel, a great setting where you can see across the city landscape at night time – more info on my website.
This was done a few years ago, however it still gives a sense of the style of house I play at a poolside lounge type venue. At the time the US was in the news a lot with the Obama campaign for election and it seemed that things were going to change away from Bush! But oh how wrong we were! That’s my excuse for the last track on the mix ‘Yes We Can’ – please believe me, I was duped by all the ‘Obama Change’ stuff, what can I say? Actually, if you play ‘Yes We Can’ backwards it says ‘Thank you Satan’ – google it if you don’t believe me! :o)
This is the kind of DJ style I played in Russia on many occasions. I can’t remember exactly which DJ gig in Russia I recorded this at, however It must have been a big one as the music is very up tempo, which is usually the way it goes for large crowds, especially in Russia!
Some of the best gigs I’ve ever done have been in Russia :o) With crowds of over 7000 people sometimes. It’s hard not to get nervous performing in front of large crowds, but the nerves only last as long as the first few tracks, then once you see the crowd go nuts, you know you’re ok for a few hours! Trick is keep building the DJ set over that time, not too quick that you play all your biggest tunes, however you need to keep everyone on their feet and interested the whole time.
The russian planes are something else also, they’re like ex-military planes with bits falling off them!
Bubblefunk Lisbon Portugal DJ Mix: Funky House / Commercial House DJ Set
This DJ Set was recorded from the first part of an event for Vodafone in Lisbon Portugal. I started off playing funky house with some commercial remixes thrown in to keep the crowd interested, as this was a corporate event after all for about 3000 people. I also booked and organized another DJ, DJ Mitch plus also an VJ for the show. We had to take three days out for the organizers who were very meticulous about everything! It was great to see the city of Lisbon though and the gig ended up going very well, with the organizers all very happy with everything.
I also provided the DJ music for the back room – about 5-6 hours of chill out and lounge music.
