2012 Mix for the Burn Studios Resident DJ Competition in Ibiza. Prize is a number of DJ residencies in Ibiza.
I wanted to do a mix that was in keeping with my regular DJ style. Kinda uplifting, esoteric, worldy, tech, tribal house sort of thing. This is also very similar to the music I’m currently putting the final touches on in the studio at the moment.
Rules of the competition state I had to use a beatport top 100 track and chose ‘Indian Express’ (which was a tough one as I don’t usually buy from the top 100 as it’s usually all pants). It’s also only 20 mins long as that’s the max for the comp.
The tracks used also sum up my time out here, in and around Asia. Taking in a lot of the Instrumentations and styles and interpreting my own ‘western’ style out of it all.
It also reflects many of the DJ residencies I’ve been on out here. Hope you like. Feel Free To Share.
I thought I’d make a mix that was in solidarity with all the ‘Occupy’ movements whilst giving this competition entry some extra depth.
6 ‘Bootleg’ tracks were first produced in Ableton, basically each track is two tracks mixed into one. I used the Ableton native EQ, High Pass Filters, Limiter and Compression & Reverb plus Izotope Nectar on vocal samples.

Electro-Swing is a fusion of electronic dance music and 1920s to 1940s Jazz and Big Band styles with genres such as House & Electro music, made popular by artists such as Parov Stelar
The Mix also includes some tracks from the new ‘Balkan’ style house music that uses samples from old Russian / Balkan records. Then at the end of the mix it goes off on a tangent to the 1960s :oD
Recorded Live on two Pioneer CDJs, at my DJ residency for Distil, Lebua, an exclusive 5 Star hotel lounge bar in Bangkok Thailand. The hotel was recently used in a shoot for ‘The Hangover Part 2′ Movie.
Rock Remixed DJ Mix | Mini United | 80s 90s DJs Remixes
A selection of classic Rock, 80s & 90s remixes for a festival I did in 2009 for Mini/BMW. A 3 day festival with 5 DJ sets by yours truly – this one was from the main stage in front of about 2000 people after Paul Weller & Calvin Harris. You can watch a short video of this event on our events page
Passion | Rio Brazil DJ Mix | Latin Brazilian Tribal Tech House
Although the title says Brazil Rio, I actually recorded this mix in Ableton in Singapore following a gig in Egypt… I thought the title would be more appropriate than calling it an ‘Egyptian Mix’ :o) Over there in Egypt they like their Latin / Tribal / Percussive / Arabic styles.
This mix was from the Savoy Hotel in Sharm El Sheikh where I played for Panagea, complete with live drummers, live Sax, a dance floor with lights and lots of crazy Russians on holiday at this sea-side resort.
Welcome To Jungle | Electro House DJ Mix | 80s 90s Remixes
Plenty of Bubblefunk Mash-Up DJ mixes on this mix. This DJ mix is not my usual style, however at Pangea the crowd have to have it commercial, so that’s the way I went – for a mostly Russian and Egyptian crowd at the opening party of their new night club. Had some fun with the mash-ups – there are a few surprises in there too…
Bubblefunk Lisbon Portugal DJ Mix: Funky House / Commercial House DJ Set
This DJ Set was recorded from the first part of an event for Vodafone in Lisbon Portugal. I started off playing funky house with some commercial remixes thrown in to keep the crowd interested, as this was a corporate event after all for about 3000 people. I also booked and organized another DJ, DJ Mitch plus also an VJ for the show. We had to take three days out for the organizers who were very meticulous about everything! It was great to see the city of Lisbon though and the gig ended up going very well, with the organizers all very happy with everything.
I also provided the DJ music for the back room – about 5-6 hours of chill out and lounge music.
